Yoga For All
Inclusive yoga led by DSC Occupational Therapist and certified yoga instructor, Cierra.
About:
Join us for a fun, and inclusive yoga series! Come move, breathe, and connect with us in a supportive and nurturing environment!
This class series fosters physical and emotional well-being while creating a sense of community and connection. No prior yoga experience is needed, and all abilities are welcomed. Each class is led by DSC Occupational Therapist, Cierra, who is a 200HR certified yoga instructor.
What to Expect:
Physical Fitness: Participation in yoga improves strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination, supporting overall physical health in a fun and engaging way.
Interoception Development: Through gentle yoga poses, breathwork, and mindfulness exercises, participants will enhance their awareness of internal sensations, helping them better understand and respond to their own needs.
Sensory Regulation: The class incorporates calming techniques and sensory-friendly tools to help participants manage sensory input.
Community Building: Each session includes opportunities for social connection through group activities, and shared moments to create and strengthening friendships within the class.
Class Details:
When: Weekly sessions
Thursdays at 3PM-3:45PM between 4/24 and 6/12
Where: DSC Campus
Who: Teenagers and adults with Down syndrome (15+)
What to bring: Comfortable clothing that enables freedom of movement, water bottle
Yoga mats and blocks are available for student use during class, with the option for students to bring their own yoga mat/blocks if desired
Dates: 4/24, 5/1, 5/8, 5/15, 5/22, 5/29, 6/5, 6/12
Cost & Registration:
Cost: $120 for all 8 classes. DDA respite funds accepted!
